(RBCS). The RBCS (Figure 1) is an image management system which utilizes script images captured on the Advanced Facer Canceler System (AFCS) and images of mail pieces captured on the OCRs but not successfully finalized (recognized and coded to the finest depth of sort, Delivery Point Bar Code). Letter mail images that are neither OCR readable (as determined by the AFCS) nor finalized by the multi-line OCR (MLOCR) are processed by the RBCS. These images are fed through T -1 telecommunication lines to off-site keyers who key address information which is converted into delivery point bar codes by the RBCS. POSTNET bar codes are sprayed on the mail pieces which are then processed along with mail pre-bar coded by customers and mail bar coded by the OCRs.
